This course builds on the phonetic work in Speech I and Speech II. Students are introduced to the sound, rhythm and cultural/grammar changes inherent in five common stage dialects;
High British, Cockney, Irish, Deep American Southern and Brooklyn.
Students work with prepared texts, cold reading and improvisation to deepen the connection to each dialect. Above all, students learn HOW to learn a dialect as each student is required to research and teach a dialect or accent to the class. Pre-requisite: Speech One.
